As part of planned maintenance, Ibrox Library closed on Saturday 17 August 2024 to allow essential works to take place.
Ibrox Library is planned to reopen on Friday 31 January 2025 at 10am, following essential works.
The repairs include mechanical and electrical equipment, lighting, fire and intruder alarms, redecorating and repairs to the carpark.
This will ensure the building will continue to meet essential compliance standards and support more generations of local people to lead happier, healthier and richer lives through access to their local library.
The nearest alternative library is Elder Park Library and Community Hub which reopened in June after its refurbishment.

Ibrox library was designed by Rogerson & Spence and opened in 1981. The building originally had a children’s project room, community room, toilet for people with disabilities and public telephone. All of these areas are still in use to this day with the exception of the telephone. Ibrox was one of the first real learning centres in Glasgow to be created from the existing network of community libraries, officially opening in April 2000.
