Black History Month at Glasgow Life Museums

A collage of images showing Black Lives Matters signs, stained glass, a silver bowl, a metal sign reading Lascars Only, and pencil drawings of faces

Glasgow Life Museums is proud to support Black History Month this October with tours and talks exploring and reflecting on Glasgow's colonial past and its legacies, vibrant community led displays of clothing and music, and come and try art workshops inspired by the African art in the collection.

As well as our public programme of free events, we have developed an online educational resource for schoolteachers to better illustrate the topic of transatlantic slavery to the next generation, through museum objects and archive materials.
