Message from our Chief Executive: Glasgow City Council budget

Dear colleague

You may be aware Glasgow City Council will soon set a three-year budget for 2024-27.

The council faces a £107.7 million funding gap over the next three financial years and Glasgow Life has been asked to put forward a series of budget options for the council to consider to help to close the budget gap.

The outcome of Glasgow City Council’s budget-setting process directly impacts Glasgow Life, as our charity is partly funded by a fee for services that we deliver on behalf of Glasgow City Council. Our service fee for 2023/24 was set at £88.76 million.

Budget planning is a challenging piece of work and many teams have worked hard over the past few months to present options. I would like to thank them for their efforts.

Councillors will decide which of Glasgow Life’s budget options will be taken when the budget is debated and set on Thursday 15 February. I will let you know what is agreed and how it affects Glasgow Life on Friday 16 February.

Susan Deighan
