Spreading Christmas cheer to families

A group of five people surrounded by Christmas gift bags in a community centre. Some of them are wearing orange aprons with B&Q written on them and Christmas jumpers

The Glasgow Life Community Development and Supporting Families teams worked with B&Q Parkhead to bring some festive cheer to families in the community. Colleagues helped to identify local families, asking the children to write what they would like from Santa on a gift tag. They then placed those tags on the B&Q Parkhead Christmas tree, and the store managers purchased the gifts for our colleagues to share.

Christmas can be a really desperate time for some of the most vulnerable families in our communities. Tight household budgets mean difficult decisions, like whether to choose food over energy through the winter months. Keeping the magic of Christmas alive for children puts a lot of pressure on families.

Glasgow Life’s Supporting Families project is grateful for B&Q Parkhead staff’s generous support. The gifts will not only help bring some magic to the lives of children in the community, but they will also ease the struggles of families facing difficult times.
