Annette Christie
Chair
Annette was elected in 2017 as a Glasgow councillor for the East Centre ward. She is also the Council’s Convenor for Culture, Sport and International Relations.
A University of Glasgow graduate, Annette trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) and has been a lifelong supporter of the arts.
Having previously worked overseas for many years, Annette has a broad range of experience in communications, sales, marketing, business development, product promotion, brand building, reputation management and client services.
Her political career has seen her campaigning to affect social change and empowering disadvantaged communities as well as championing the rights of women and girls.
Annette also sits on the boards of the Glasgow City Integrated Joint Board, and city arts organisation Cryptic, as well as being a trustee of the Blindcraft Trust.

Susan Deighan
As Chief Executive of Glasgow Life, one of Scotland’s largest charities, Susan is the city’s strategic lead for Culture, Sport, and Events, as well as being responsible for building Glasgow’s global profile as a world-class leisure and business tourism destination.
Susan has more than 20 years’ experience in the public sector, having held senior positions within Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life.
Core to Glasgow Life’s vision is the belief in the transformative power of culture and sport to fundamentally change people’s lives – helping to build happier, healthier, more prosperous and more productive communities.
Susan’s work includes overseeing Glasgow Life’s direct delivery of culture and sport services and programmes across the city. This includes responsibility for more than 100 public buildings, from iconic venues like the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to The Mitchell Library and the Emirates Arena. Glasgow Life also operates an extensive network of community facilities, including 32 local libraries, 18 community centres and the Glasgow Club; Scotland’s largest health and fitness network.
Working in partnership with local and national agencies, Susan provides expertise, guidance, and leadership across key initiatives in support of Glasgow’s culture, sport, tourism and events priorities.
She also has responsibility for leading the development of major city strategies, which has included the refreshed Vision for Glasgow’s Libraries; the Glasgow 2030 Tourism Strategy; and the city’s new Culture and Events strategies. Glasgow Life is also currently developing innovative new city strategies for Community Learning, and Physical Activity and Sport, both of which will be published in 2025.

Eva Bolander
Originally from Sweden, Eva has been a Glasgow councillor for the Anderston/City/Yorkhill ward since 2015 and was elected as the city’s Lord Provost from May 2017 to October 2019.
Before moving to Scotland in 1995, she studied Archaeology and Social Sciences in Stockholm and worked for the Museum of National Antiquities.
A former member of Stockholm Caledonia Pipe Band, Eva’s interest in music brought her to Scotland as a learner of the bagpipes. After studying Multimedia Production and Electronic Publishing at Glasgow College of Building and Printing, she started her own business and freelanced as a website designer and consultant.
Eva is also Chair of the Merchant City Festival and a trustee of Glasgow City Heritage Trust.

Laura Doherty
Laura was elected in 2022 as a Glasgow councillor for the Shettleston ward. She is the Council’s Convener for Neighbourhoods, Services and Assets, and Chairs the Board of the Glasgow East Arts Company.

Holly Bruce
Holly is a University of Aberdeen law graduate who was elected in 2022 as a Glasgow councillor for the Langside ward.
As one of the youngest women to serve with Glasgow City Council, Holly is Vice-Chair of the Council’s Environment and Liveable Neighbourhoods Committee.
Holly is a feminist activist, who played a key part in the 2021 Young Women Lead research report – Glasgow: A Feminist City? She passed her Feminist City motion in October 2022, committing the Council to embed a feminist town planning approach into its city development plan.
Holly is passionate about ensuring culture and sport are accessible to people who are often excluded. She is particularly interested in helping remove barriers for women, non-binary and trans people participating in sport.

Anita Salwan
An enthusiastic Glaswegian, Anita graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a law degree and diploma in legal practice. Having spent a decade as a solicitor focusing on charity law and latterly transport projects,
For the last 18 years Anita has turned her attention to risk management, governance, strategy and planning in the financial services industry.
Anita brings a wealth of experience as well as huge enthusiasm for the work Glasgow Life does to improve the lives of the people of Glasgow and an insatiable desire to promote equality, accessibility and opportunities for all.

Iain MacRitchie
As the founder and CEO of MCR Pathways and Chair of MCR Foundation, Iain’s career has taken him across the world in the development of 18 companies as either Chair or CEO and as an adviser to over 100 others.
Experienced in leading change in large-scale organisations and having led three successful start-ups, Iain has a track record in helping people and businesses realise their potential.
After setting up his charity in Glasgow in 2006, Iain developed and led MCR Pathways’ mentoring programme. With staff in every Glasgow secondary school supporting over 1,500 disadvantaged young people each week, the successful model is now being embedded in the national education system.

Siobhan Nairn
Siobhan was raised and schooled in Clydebank and went on to study economics at the University of Strathclyde. Having stopped work to raise a family, Siobhan became active in volunteering with toddler groups, children's sports groups and Barnardo’s.
Siobhan has also been heavily involved, over many years, with Citizen Advice Edinburgh as an advisor and activist in helping save bureaus from closure.
These experiences have made her a passionate advocate of empowering individuals and communities to better their lives through active local engagement. She and her husband, Sandy, set up a family foundation in 2019 to support various philanthropic causes.

Shahid Hanif
Shahid was born and raised in Glasgow, graduating from the University of Strathclyde with a law degree and post-graduate diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
He became an ICAS Chartered Accountant with PwC, gaining a wealth of experience over the past 25 years as a senior leader in finance and commercial roles, which have taken him across Europe and Australia.
Having gained experience within fast-moving consumer goods, financial services, aviation and real estate, Shahid honed his expertise with notable blue chip and SME organisations Pernod Ricard, Baxters Food Group, AGS Airports, RBS and Ageas Insurance. His key strengths include managing complex financial and commercial operations; major capital investment; restructuring; income generation; and cost efficiency.

Lynn Bradley
Lynn is a chartered accountant with over 30 years’ experience in the public, private and third sectors. She is currently employed as a senior lecturer and chief adviser of studies at the Adam Smith Business School in the University of Glasgow, where she specialises in audit and public sector accounting.
Before joining the university, Lynn was a director with Audit Scotland. She is also a board member of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator where she chairs the Audit and Risk Committee. In her spare time, Lynn is a regular audience member of Glasgow Life’s events.

Glen Gribbon
With over 30 years’ experience in international sales, marketing and brand management, Glen is the Chief Executive of Bladnoch Distillery; an ambitious whisky business based in Dumfries and Galloway that dates back to 1817.
Glen previously held leadership positions across several high-profile drinks industry brands, including as Marketing Director for The Macallan brand at Edrington, and Marketing and International Sales Director for Whyte and Mackay. Glen is committed to helping guide our charity to inspire every citizen and visitor to become engaged and active in a city globally renowned for culture and sport. He brings a wealth of experience, having worked across a broad spectrum of corporate and blue-chip businesses, including BP Oil and Mars Confectionary.
