Signs of the climate crisis are not always visible – but its hidden effects are no less devastating. Even a minute fluctuation in the constant temperature of the thermohyline loop which circulates through Earth’s five oceans could transform our ecosystem. It takes a millennium for a single drop of water to travel the world in this current, a fact that informs Martin Messier’s new work, in which digital water currents stream, splatter and splash, set to a bubbling electronic soundtrack that underscores water’s vital importance to our continued survival.

At the quantum level, the rules of physics break down and certainties dissolve: particles appear able to exist in two places at once, behave differently whether observed or ignored, and influence one another across incredible distances. France Jobin and Markus Heckmann’s immersive work draws on cutting-edge quantum theory, setting prismatic visualisations of impossible realities – micro and macro – to a gradually intensifying drone that captures the towering cosmic awe occasioned when the most minute processes in nature challenge us to rethink everything we think we know.

The golden ratio is a pattern found in the spiral of a snail’s shell, the number of petals in a flower, the shape of the Milky Way, and some of our most recognisable architecture. Drawing on this synchronicity across art, nature and mathematics, Homeostasis is an audiovisual feedback loop in which music and projected visuals react to and balance one another: while galactic forms whirl and organic matter blooms, musician-composer Toninato (on baritone saxophone) and multimedia artist Lecours (on modular synthesiser) improvise music to contrast and complement.
