The benefits of reading
The benefits of reading
Glasgow Life cares about your health and wellbeing. You can find free information and support by popping into your local library.
Our friendly staff can help you find out more about events, activities and clubs to join.
We have books with advice on mental health, dementia, heart conditions, strokes, long Covid, diabetes, and dealing with grief.
How to get involved
Research has shown that reading for as little as 6 minutes a day can reduce stress by 68%. Reading also has a positive effect on mental wellbeing, keeping our brains sharp as we get older by improving memory and concentration. Being a library member means you can read lots of books and eBooks for free, so why not sign up today? We have a wide-range of information to help support you with your health and wellbeing. We also have lots of resources, reads and activities for families and young people. Here are some of the many things we provide: · Drop in support and information sessions for health and wellbeing · Infant feeding support groups · Reading lists on a wide range of health topics · The Home Library Service to bring books to you if you are unable to visit a library. |
Our health and wellbeing partners offer emotional, practical and financial support and information, ranging from anyone who is affected by sight or hearing loss to Alzheimer's disease to cancer
