Celebrating the opening of the Govan - Partick bridge on the banks of the Clyde with two festivals - 7 and 8 September 2024

There’s a lot happening down Riverside way over this weekend (Saturday 7 September and Sunday 8 September) with the opening of the new Govan – Partick bridge, which opens to the public from mid-morning on Saturday 7 September, giving you a brand new entry point to our museum.

To celebrate this massive addition to the fabric of our locality, connecting the communities of Govan and Partick, there are not one, but two festivals celebrating this!

Right beside us on the banks of the river, The Clydebuilt Festival returns for its fifth year on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September between 10am - 7pm with a whole host of water inspired activity including Castle to Crane - Scotland's biggest open water rowing race arriving from Dumbarton Castle, free canoeing on the Clyde, outdoor survival skills workshops, boatbuilding, scary sea monster storytelling for kids, Street Food vendors, Licensed bar and live music stage with festival favourites and some of Glasgow's grassroots homegrown musical talent.

Across the banks of the river at Govan Cross and Govan Road, the Footbridge Festival will take place on Saturday 7 September between 10am – 8pm with the Red Hot Chili Pipers, Shooglenifty and the Govan Community Pipe Band.

To mark this weekend of celebration we are extending our opening hours for the weekend, so come and celebrate Riverside Museum, the Clydebuilt Festival, the Footbridge Festival and the new Govan ‘ Partick bridge with us.
