Going Green – The Drive for Energy Efficiency

For centuries, scientists, engineers and designers have searched for ways to improve the efficiency of technology. Today the reality of climate change – which we are all experiencing – has made that search even more urgent.
This display presents a dynamic array of objects which are brought together under several themes including: Fossil Fuels and their Prehistoric Origins; Alternative Fuel – Renewable and Sustainable Energy; and Zero Emissions.
Among the objects visitors will be able to see are a 310-million-year-old fossil, a 3U CubeSat made by Glasgow company Clyde Space, a 1973 Vélo Solex moped with 174 miles per gallon used by a local doctor, and a rare Honda Insight Mk1 hybrid car from 2000 driven daily throughout central Scotland.
It also demonstrates how we monitor environmental dangers (like air quality) today in contrast to 150 years ago, as shown by a sample of water taken from the River Clyde on 8 January 1874!
Going Green – The Drive for Energy Efficiency is sure to enthrall and engage visitors of all ages and will be an important talking piece for the younger generations.
