Find out more about volunteering

The delivery of sport and physical activity in Glasgow relies upon volunteers.

We are fortunate to have so many fantastic volunteers in the city that help people to get active.

Glasgow Life can help you to find an opportunity that suits and have answered some common questions below.

Sport Clubs and organisations rely upon volunteers to get more people active.

The vast majority of clubs and community sport hubs are run entirely by volunteers.

People like you who started out wanting to give back!

Being a volunteer is a great way to meet new people, to give back to your community and enjoy new experiences.

Glasgow Life recruit volunteers for both internal roles and those within our community partners.

There are a wide range of roles available and generally we will be able to find something that fits your skillset and what you would like to do.

Some of the roles available include:

  1. Head and Assistant Coach roles across various activities.
  2. Leadership roles in activity delivery.
  3. Committee / Board Member positions.
  4. Administrative off field positions within organisations.

The great thing about volunteering is you can pick a role that fits your life.

Some volunteers commit tens of hours per week and some will offer an hour or two per month.

There is something to fit everyone! The key thing is you are up front about the time you can volunteer and that allows us and any community partners to find the best fit for you.

You can browse our available opportunities online and sign up or get in touch with us.

If you require a little more support to volunteer then apply via our Gateway to Volunteering initiative.

Either way we will work with you to find the right opportunity.

I would say to others wanting to volunteer, "Go for it!" It's a chance to do something a little bit different, to meet people you wouldn’t meet in your everyday life. The team spirit is great and you get a good feeling of accomplishment.
