Glasgow's Sport Awards celebrate physical activity, sport and wellbeing.

The awards recognise people, organisations and projects that make a difference in Glasgow.

We are delighted to announce our shortlisted nominees for 2024 below.


Meet The Shortlisted Nominees

The Lord Provost of Glasgow will host Glasgow's Sport Awards on Monday 2nd December. The event will recognise winners from the shortlisted nominees below.

The city will crown Glasgow's Sportsperson of the Year and the following awards:

  1. Glasgow's Lifetime Achievement Award
  2. Glasgow Business Contribution Award
  3. Glasgow's Lord Provost Award.

This category recognises an individual with outstanding commitment to coaching and development of athletes or teams within their sport.

Glasgow Coach of the Year - Shortlisted Nominees                                                                          

  • David Watson - Glasgow School of Sport (Athletics)
  • Franco Smith - Glasgow Warriors (Rugby)
  • Jo Potter - Rangers Football Club (Football)

We are delighted to have the national agency for sport, sportscotland as the awards partner within this category.

This category recognises an organisation or project that uses physical activity or sport to make a difference within their community. 

Glasgow Community Impact Award - Shortlisted Nominees                                                                          

  • Cashback Schools and Community of Basketball 
  • Easterhouse Sports Centre 
  • Sapphire Gymnastics Club 
  • Summerston Netball Club

We are delighted to have Scotland's Mental Health charity, SAMH as the awards partner within this category.

This category recognises a sportsperson, with a disability, who has shown outstanding commitment and performance at a local, regional, national and/or international level.
 

Glasgow Disabled Athlete of the Year - Shortlisted Nominees                                                                          

  • Gordon Reid OBE (Wheelchair Tennis)
  • Samantha Kinghorn MBE (Para-Athletics)

We are delighted to have Scottish Disability Sport and Disability Sport Glasgow as award partners within this category.

This category recognises an organisation or project that demonstrates significant achievements in using physical activity and sport to positively impact upon the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals and groups.

This category recognises a young sportsperson, aged 18 years of age or younger, who has displayed outstanding performances at a local, regional, national or international level within their sport.
