Community-based Adult Learning
Raising standards of achievement in learning for adults through community-based lifelong learning opportunities incorporating the core skills of: literacy, numeracy, communications, working with others, problem-solving, information communications technology (ICT)
The Adult Learning Service offers high quality learning programmes for adults 16 yrs + to develop core skills, improve life chances and address social isolation.
We deliver a wide range of community based adult learning under the following themes: Wider Achievement, Adult Literacy and Numeracy (ALN), Digital, Gaelic and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
Adults across Glasgow are taking part in learning where they are developing their skills and confidence, meeting new people and making positive changes.

ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other Languages. It's aimed at non-native English speakers, looking to take up a new language or validate their skills.

Gaelic learning for adults ranging from introductory classes to more advanced along with Còmhradh is Ceistean sessions. Gaelic Bookbug is also offered within Glasgow Libraries for parents and carers to enjoy with babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers to support Glasgow’s thriving Gaelic community.
Working with a tutor in a one to one or group setting, learners create an Individual Learning Plan that supports them working towards their literacy and numeracy goals.
