At the end of January Langside Library will close to undergo a major refurbishment to improve the service to better meet the needs of the local community. For our final author event, before the library reopens following refurbishment in winter 2026/27, join local author Alison Irvine for a celebration of our Langside Library memories.
Our very own Langside Library is a special place. We’ve
borrowed books, kept warm, used the computers, sung with our wee ones, sat outside
on the benches by the flowers and much much more. The stories of our library
are important to tell and share; it’s our library at the heart of our
community.
Come along and tell your story in a fun and informal creative writing workshop on memory and place. All welcome. No experience necessary.
Alison Irvine is a writer of fiction and non-fiction. Her first novel, This Road is Red, was shortlisted for the Saltire First Book of the Year and her second novel, Cat Step, was a BBC Radio 4 Front Row Editor’s Pick. She is the writer in the artist collective Recollective and together they have documented a range of buildings and places including the Barrowland Ballroom, the Red Road Flats, Falkirk Town Centre and the East End of Glasgow, interviewing residents, and using photography, illustration and writing to record their stories.
