Travel Shouldn't Cost the Earth
Emma Gregg & Nina Karnikowski chaired by Gabriella Bennett
4.45pm-5.45pm BST*
Discover how to explore our beautiful world sustainably and responsibly with these two new books.
Award-winning travel writer Emma Gregg’s The Flightless Traveller, presents 50 inspirational, life-affirming trip ideas for those who would like to fly less, or not at all. They include eco-friendly city breaks and coastal retreats, bike rides and sailing voyages, short jaunts on vintage railways and incredible intercontinental journeys. Nina Karnikowski will be joining us virtually from Australia to talk about her book Go Lightly, a sustainable travel handbook which inspires readers to explore our fascinating planet without causing it further harm. Her advice includes how to choose the least impactful methods of travel, how best to protect wildlife, how to pack with more consideration, how to implement mindful practices into each travel day, eco-friendly activities including biking, boating and camping, and introduces us to some of the world's most inspiring eco-adventure pioneers.
*This performance is pre-recorded and will be available to watch for three weeks after the broadcast date to accommodate different time zones.
This performance is included in the Aye Write 2021 festival pass, so you will not need to purchase this event if you have already purchased a pass.
Books are available to purchase from our bookseller partner Bookshop.org. Bookshop.org supports independent booksellers and for every book purchased 10% comes back to Aye Write and Wee Write, helping to invest in our city’s book festival and reader development programmes.
