Join award winning Scottish artist and writer Kirsten MacQuarrie, in conversation with author Sara Sheridan, at the Mitchell Library on Saturday 21st September as she launches her exciting debut novel Remember the Rowan.

Inspired by the true story of poet Kathleen Raine and author-naturalist Gavin Maxwell’s ‘some-requited’ love, Remember the Rowan illuminates their extraordinary relationship and shines a light on the woman behind Ring of Bright Water.

In the first fictionalised account of their relationship, Kirsten weaves together literary reference and poetry to present an intimate portrayal of two writers and their complicated love, drawing on themes of nature, homosexuality and motherhood.
