An opportunity to hear from Barclay Price about his new book that recounts Byres Road history over 200 years. His illustrated talk will provide a flavour of the 21 chapters that offer a fascinating account of the road’s development, shops, residents, events, characters and much more. Barclay grew up in Ruthven Lane in the house that was part of the livery stables that his great-grandfather, Joseph Price, built in 1870. After a long career working in the arts, on retiring Barclay began – by chance – a new career as a researcher of, and writer on, local history. His books include a history of the Chinese in Britain and a history of animals in Glasgow.
