The Wee Write Family Day is back at The Mitchell Library on Saturday 9 November celebrating a decade of our much-loved Children’s Book Festival.
Why not make a day of it and enjoy a magical day celebrating the joy of books and storytelling with lots of fun interactive workshops and activities. Here's a taster of what's on offer:
10am: Robert Tregoning - The Dress in the Window
A joyous tale of boy meets dress. This book tells the story of a young boy who falls in love with a sparkling red dress in the window of a charity shop and his efforts to raise enough money to buy it with the support of his mum and local community.
11am: Tom Morgan-Jones - Illustrators Game Show
In this super, book-inspired roller-coaster of a game, you will solve possibly the most dangerous riddle in the world, enjoy draw-alongs, and face trials of physical dexterity.
12:30: Steve Webb - Peng and Spanners
Join the hilarious author and illustrator, Steve Webb, as he introduces your new favourite superheroes: a sarcastic penguin and a clever cat with a tool belt. Learn how to draw the characters and create your very own graphic novel comic strips.
3:15: Jim Smith - My Big Fat Smelly Poo Diary
Join Jim as he introduces the hilarious and lovable characters, best friends Pedro, Olga, and Ozzy—AKA the Poopies—and follow them on a series of madcap, episodic adventures.
This highly interactive event will feature readings, draw-alongs, tips and tricks on crafting comics, and the chance to get your questions answered.
