Our curriculum of innovative postgraduate programmes, built on theory and practice and knowledge of the cultural sector, provides an enriched student experience at Kelvin Hall.

Postgraduate programmes

We offer a range of one and two year Masters programmes which are based out of Kelvin Hall. These programmes have been developed in collaboration with key employers in the cultural and creative sectors. They have been designed to give you the skills and experience you will need to work in your chosen field, or, should you choose, to undertake further research.

Cultural policy

Our Cultural Policy masters programmes have strong links with Scottish and UK creative sector. They offer a wide range of guest speakers and networking opportunities. They are taught in conjunction with the Adam Smith Business School and focus on the policy knowledge and the business skills required to work in the cultural or creative industries.

Film studies

Based alongside the National Library of Scotland's Moving Image Archive, we offer two different film programmes. One focuses on the making of, and finding an audience for, your own work, while the curation programme investigates the material qualities of audio-visual media and explores the history and contemporary practice of projection and exhibition, in cinemas, galleries, festivals and online.

Museum and artefact studies

Taught in collaboration and with access to The Hunterian and Glasgow Museums, these programmes are designed to provide you with the skills needed to work in the museum and heritage sector.

We also offer a 2 year MPhil in Textile Conservation, based out of the Kelvin Centre for Textile Conservation, which will benefit from the close links with Glasgow Life Museums and The Hunterian.

Interdisciplinary studies

Our interdisciplinary programmes allow you to study across multiple disciplines, create your own curriculum and pursue self-directed unique research. Ancestral Studies is the first postgraduate degree of its kind in the world, drawing on cross-disciplinary expertise and teaching, it explores the social and biological contours of identity.
