As the acknowledged creators of their own musical genre (Rockgrass), Hayseed Dixie has come a long way since their first album, 2001’s A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC. Between then and now, the band has performed in 33 different countries and released a whopping 16 studio albums, a Halloween EP, and a double live album recorded right here in Glasgow.
Their return to Celtic Connections marks something of a homecoming. Per capita, Hayseed Dixie’s biggest market is, in fact, Scotland, which comes as no surprise to frontman Barley Scotch and the boys thanks to the “deep cultural links between Appalachian and Scottish culture, including music, religion, and whisk(e)y!”
Expect a raucous evening of Rockgrass as banjos, guitars, mandolins and more fill St Luke’s with mind-bending rolls and riffs.
