A new database taken from the City Archives was launched on 11 November. This gives the details of almost 2,800 men who served in the 1st and 2nd Glasgow battalions of the Highland Light Infantry during World War 1. Explore our records online.
There is also a wonderful resource now available for anyone looking for more information about Scottish military history and the lives of ancestors in the military Search the Libraries online catalogue under the author tab for Scottish Regimental History Collection to find over 500 books.
And we recently held a very popular event in conjunction with the Scottish Military History Research Group when our staff joined with volunteer researchers to help visitors research their Services ancestor. We’re already planning the next of these events so look out for updates on the website or in the next edition of the Family History at The Mitchell eNews.
