Glasgow Libraries are delighted to announce an out of this world collaboration! This summer we are working with Glasgow 2024: A Worldcon for Our Futures to offer sci-fi tastic book collections and events in libraries across Glasgow.

As part of our library Worldcon events programme, we are delighted to welcome local debut author Christopher Mackie to Springburn Library for a fun interactive creative writing workshop.

Christopher grew up in a village near Glasgow listening to half-remembered fairy tales and strange science fiction. Somewhere along the way these got jumbled up in his brain and led to him creating the weird and wonderful world of Cloudlanders, where an eight-foot mushroom, a gemstone faerie and a colourful cast of fairy tale misfits must save their floating island before it comes crashing down into the Endless Sea...

Now you can join Christopher in a creative writing workshop where you'll play fairy tale true or false, come up with your own fantastical creature and use his 'fairy tale what ifs' scenarios to come up with your own quirky, modern take on a traditional fairy tale. Christopher will also share his own top tips for writing and explore the inspiration for his debut novel, before reading from one of its thrilling chapters at the end of the event!

Suitable for children aged 8-12.
