Willie Watson is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, banjo player, actor, and founding member of Americana string band Old Crow Medicine Show.
A staple of the folk circuit, Watson has been performing professionally for almost 30 years and has two acclaimed folk cover albums (Folk Singer Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) to his name.
Still, it took until 2024 for him to release his first wholly original solo album, the self-titled Willie Watson — and it was worth the wait. A bold and confident statement in both song mastery and sonics, Watson has lived, lost, and simply witnessed enough to know he has something to sing with his exquisite rural tenor. By and large, these are his stories of heartbreak and hurt, backlit by the corona of hope that only growth can provide.
