Salvador Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross

On 6 January 2026, the painting will temporarily come off display while our expert team undertakes planned research and photography work.

Salvador Dali's original painting, Christ of St John of the Cross, has its permanent home at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

One of Glasgow’s most iconic and best-loved paintings – is getting some well-deserved attention. On 6 January 2026, the painting will temporarily come off display while our expert team undertakes planned research and photography work. We can’t wait to welcome it back to the gallery in late February 2026, ready to inspire visitors once again.

The last chance to see the painting for a few weeks will be 5 January 2026.
